The conference is a significant gathering of ministers and representatives from 50 countries, meeting to discuss and address critical issues in the governance of sport.
The conference will be held in Porto, Portugal, in October 2024. Some events will also take place in Gaia and Matosinhos.
The main themes are “Governing and Governance in Sport: Supporting a Fresh Approach to Match Its Societal Importance,” focusing on enhancing cooperation, transparency, gender equality, dual careers, collaborative governance, and good governance.
Participants include ministers, senior officials from 50 countries, members of the Council of Europe or from the Enlarged Partial Agreement on Sport (EPAS) and/or Parties to the European Cultural Convention, representatives from sports organisations, academic experts, and youth delegates.
The conference will feature the 10th Anniversary of the Macolin Convention on the manipulation of sports competitions and a youth initiative focusing on young perspectives in sport and conference themes.
The conference is organised by EPAS in cooperation with the Government of Portugal, through the Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth (IPDJ), with support from Porto City Council, Vila Nova de Gaia City Council, Matosinhos City Council, and in partnership with Porto and North of Portugal Tourism.

Participation is reserved for invited participants only, including ministers, officials, and representatives from relevant organisations.
Only certain moments of the conference will be streamed online, and remote participation will not be possible.
